It's International Polar Bear Day! 🐻‍❄️

Today is International Polar Bear Day! 

What does this mean exactly? It's a day to bring awareness to polar bears and their denning practices. Which is why the International Polar Bear Day coincides with the time when polar bear moms and their cubs den. 

On this day, the idea is to focus on the need to protect denning families in the Arctic. Because denning is the most vulnerable time for polar bears, as the cubs are not able to survive in the frigid and extreme conditions of their environment, it's important to protect their dens so they can develop without issues until they are strong enough (in the Spring) to come out and be ready for their new lives. 

The Polars Bears International Organization is the only entity that solely focuses on polar bears and their environment: the ice and snow they need to survive. Check them out if you want to learn more of the work they are doing and how you can help. Animals need our help. So many of them find themselves in such a precarious situation, which is especially true for polar bears as they are slowly losing their habitat due to climate change. 

You can also help by adopting a polar bear either through the PBI or the WWF.
